WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE EVERYONE IS STRUGGLING EXCEPT YOU?
Have you ever opened Instagram, TikTok, or even WhatsApp and suddenly felt like your life was moving too slowly?
Someone just got a new job.
Someone launched a business.
Someone travelled.
Someone got married.
Someone bought a car.
Someone announced an achievement.
Someone seems to have everything figured out.
And then there's you.
You put your phone down and quietly wonder:
“Am I behind?”
The strange thing is that you may not actually be behind at all.
You may simply be comparing your behind-the-scenes to everyone else's highlight reel.
We rarely see the full story behind people's success.
We see the new apartment, not the months of financial stress.
We see the business launch, not the failed attempts that came before it.
We see the relationship announcement, not the arguments nobody posted.
We see the graduation picture, not the nights they cried over their assignments.
We see the destination.
We don't see the journey.
And because social media compresses people's lives into beautiful little moments, it becomes easy to believe that everyone is progressing while you're standing still.
But life isn't a race with one finish line.
Someone else's chapter ten doesn't make your chapter three a failure. EVERYONE HAS A SILENT BATTLE. THE INVISIBLE COMPETITION
One of the most exhausting things about modern life is the competition nobody officially announced.
You don't remember agreeing to compete with the person you follow online.
Yet somehow, you are.
Their income becomes a measurement of yours.
Their appearance becomes a measurement of yours.
Their relationship becomes a measurement of yours.
Their achievements become a measurement of yours.
And suddenly, you're no longer asking, “Am I growing?”
You're asking, “Am I growing faster than them?”
That's a completely different question.
And it can steal your peace.
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE CARRYING
There is a powerful truth we often forget:
Everyone has a private struggle.
The confident person may be battling insecurity.
The successful entrepreneur may be terrified of losing everything.
The person who always makes everyone laugh may be struggling silently.
The person who looks financially comfortable may be drowning in responsibilities.
People are complicated.
A photograph can capture someone's appearance.
It cannot capture their entire life.
So before you decide that everyone else is doing better than you, remember that you're comparing your complete reality with a tiny fraction of theirs.
DEFINE SUCCESS FOR YOURSELF
Maybe your biggest achievement this year isn't something that can be posted.
Maybe you survived something difficult.
Maybe you finally learned to say no.
Maybe you're becoming more confident.
Maybe you're healing.
Maybe you're studying.
Maybe you're building something quietly.
Maybe you're simply trying again.
Those things count.
Progress doesn't always make noise.
Sometimes growth looks like nobody noticing that you've become stronger.
So the next time you feel like everyone is ahead of you, pause.
Look at your own life.
Look at how far you've come.
Then ask a better question:
“Am I becoming someone I'm proud of?”
Because that's a race worth running.
And unlike comparison, it doesn't require you to lose your peace to win.
